Berlusconi - a never ending nightmare?

Silvio BerlusconiAlthough he is not in power anymore, the former Italian prime minister is showing up on at least one of his Mediaset-TV-channels on a daily basis. Several months after Berluconi lost the elections, it is bewildering and disgusting to listen to e.g. Emilia Fede the director of Canale 4. When he, with his sardonic smile on his face, talks about the government every now and then he likes to call it "l’attuale maggioranza" (the actual majority). For sure not only he is convinced that his beloved friend Silvio Berlusconi will arrange a comeback. Many Italians still tend to admire the rise especially to wealth of this person, even when achieved via dubious tricks and connections to members of the Mafia. Funny reading, today’s story at BoingBoing titled "Berlusconi used Hollywood studios for money laundering" It goes:" Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is on trial for laundering money by purchasing copyright licenses from MPAA members. Accused of co-conspiring with him is David Mills, the "estranged husband" of Tessa Jowell, the British copyright minister who has taken many extremist stances in support of the handful of US-led Fortune 100 companies that dominate global entertainment.

Next time you hear an entertainment exec spouting evidence-free garbage about P2P being used to fund terrorism, ask him about Berlusconi and his company’s complicity with high official corruption and money-laundering."

"Prosecutors say offshore companies set up in the early 1990s were used to buy American film rights which were sold at hugely inflated prices to Mr Berlusconi’s television company, Mediaset.

It was an intricate system designed, they allege, to ensure the former prime minister avoided paying tax."

PS. Almost forgot that there is the rest of this nice article by the BBC as well.

Do you know how to contact ‘Marche-Romagna Immobili’ as I have tried their e-mail, filled out their form and tried phoning, all without success. It is most frustrating as there is a house we are particularly interested in. I hope this is not a problem.
